Mini-Split Cassette Install

Crawling Through Attics and Old Plaster: The Pierce LLC Mini-Split Installation Adventure

At Pierce LLC, we pride ourselves on tackling even the most challenging projects with precision and dedication. One such project involved installing mini-split ceiling cassettes in a series of old plaster buildings. This task required us to navigate through tight attic spaces and overcome various obstacles, but our team was up to the challenge.

Navigating Attic Spaces and Old Plaster

The first step in our mini-split installation process was to crawl through the cramped attic spaces of the buildings. These attics were filled with old insulation and debris, making it a tight and uncomfortable workspace. Our team carefully maneuvered through these spaces, ensuring that we didn’t disturb the fragile plaster ceilings below.

Installing Rooftop Condensers

Once we had access to the attic spaces, we moved on to installing the rooftop condensers. This involved lifting the heavy units onto the roof and securing them in place. Our team worked together to ensure that the condensers were properly positioned and anchored, ready to provide efficient cooling for the building.

Running Condensate and Refrigeration Lines

With the condensers in place, we began the intricate process of running the condensate and refrigeration lines. These lines needed to be carefully routed through the attic spaces and down into the building, connecting to the ceiling cassettes. Our team meticulously measured and cut the lines to ensure a perfect fit, taking care to avoid any damage to the old plaster walls.

Challenges with Torque Wrenches and Cold Weather

One of the unexpected challenges we faced was acquiring the proper torque wrench for the mechanical connections. The specific wrench we needed was difficult to find, causing delays in our project timeline. Additionally, we had to contend with the cold January weather, which made working on the rooftop and in the unheated attic spaces even more challenging. Despite these obstacles, our team remained determined and focused, finding creative solutions to keep the project on track.

The Mini-Split Installation Process

Installing mini-splits involves several key steps:

  1. Site Assessment: We begin by assessing the site to determine the best locations for the indoor and outdoor units.
  2. Mounting the Indoor Units: The ceiling cassettes are mounted in the designated locations, ensuring they are level and secure.
  3. Running the Lines: Condensate and refrigeration lines are run from the indoor units to the outdoor condensers, carefully routed to avoid any obstructions.
  4. Connecting the Units: The lines are connected to the indoor and outdoor units, and the system is charged with refrigerant.
  5. Testing and Commissioning: Finally, we test the system to ensure it is operating efficiently and make any necessary adjustments.

At Pierce LLC, we take pride in our ability to handle complex installations with professionalism and expertise. Our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction drives us to overcome any challenges that come our way. If you’re in need of reliable plumbing and mechanical solutions, trust Pierce LLC to deliver exceptional results.
